Legislative Business Stars Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for Legislative Business Stars is designed to be transparent and clearly understood by legislators and the community at large.

Two-thirds of the criteria are attributed to the legislators public record on bill sponsorship and votes. The other third is based upon effective and respectable leadership.

The three components to the selection criteria are below.

1. The Business Index:

A combined score based on a legislators billl sponsorship record and floor voting record.

2. Automatic disqualifying bills:

There are five bills that The Business Institute deemed automatic disqualifiers this session. A legislator who sponsored, co-sponsored, or voted against the business communities position on any one of these bills, is automatically disqualified from consideration for a Business Star.
